Dutch giants keen on Anfield man.
Ajax are rumoured to be interested in signing Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt, and will move for the player in the summer.
Kuyt has been a loyal servant for Liverpool since his move from Feyenoord in 2006 and remains a fan favourite at Anfield however interest from Ajax is thought to be high as they are keen to bolster their attacking options after Manager Frank De Boer looks set to off-load Mounir El Hamdaoui.
Kuyt has recently taking up an advisory role with his youth club Quick Boys and rumours in Holland are suggesting that this move will see Kuyt return to the Netherlands sooner rather than later, with Ajax rumoured to be his likely destination although his old club Feyenoord are monitoring the 31-year-olds happiness at Liverpool.
Now may well be the right time for Dirk Kuyt to consider a move back to his native Holland, not least as his first team chances may become less and less frequent due to the arrival of Jordan Henderson in the summer. Thus far this season the 31 year old Dutch international has made six Premier League starts though he is clearly still an important part of Kenny Dalglish’s first team plans.
Ajax can pretty much guarantee Kuyt Champions League football every season, especially now that Frank de Boer has got the Amsterdam side back on track helping them to their first Eredivisie title in seven years last season.
Kuyt is known for his ability to net crucial goals and as such has become a favourite with the Liverpool faithful. The former Feyenoord man has notched up 66 goals from 184 appearances and after five and a half years on Merseyside perhaps the draw of a return home may be of interest.
De Boer may feel that the January capture of the experienced campaigner may help Ajax bridge the gap to runaway leaders AZ Alkmaar who are currently six points clear at the top of the table and eleven points ahead of de Amsterdammers.
