It all kicks off when Stoke City host Blackburn Rovers on Saturday lunch-time. This may not seem like one of the most glamorous ties ever, but there is a lot at stake for both teams.
The Potters have lost their last five league games, while Blackburn are four points adrift of safety and without a win in seven Premier League encounters. Both teams are struggling, both teams need a win and this means is should be tense affair from start to finish.
Stoke are 4/5 to win this game which offers no appeal to me at all, as I feel they have finally been found out with their one dimensional tactics, while for some reason I have more faith in Blackburn at the moment despite their position in the league.
I have a feeling they could steal a Yakubu inspired win at 7/2.
Following this, there are six 3pm kick-offs, the pick of which is arguably Norwich City at home to Queens Park Rangers.
The two newly promoted teams clash at Carrow Road and it should be an entertaining contest. Both teams like to play football and both will be looking to consolidate their position towards the top half of the Premier League. Rangers destroyed Wolves 3-0 away, were unlucky to lose to Man City and won away at Stoke last week, and at 5/2 offer more than a shade of value.
Elsewhere on Saturday afternoon, Chelsea go in search of a much needed win at home to Wolves, Sunderland host Wigan and in-form Tottenham go to West Brom in search of another three points.
Manchester United v Newcastle United is another fascinating 3pm kick-off. Should Alan Pardew’s men win, it puts them just a point behind the Premier League Champions and this highlights how well they have done so far this season.
As for United, they are getting the job done at the moment with three 1-0 victories in a row, but they would love to get back to their fluent best this weekend.
Rounding off Saturday’s action is the 5.30pm kick-off from the Emirates as Arsenal – with the on fire Robin Van Persie leading the line – look for their sixth Premier League win in a row against Martin Jol’s Fulham, and its difficult to see past the 1/2 on offer for the home win.
Moving onto Sunday’s fixtures, Swansea taking on Aston Villa starts things off before the biggest game of the weekend at 4pm.
I’d really like to be backing the Welsh side, but I’d be expecting a little more value for the Swansea home win at 13/10 and while the Villa are struggling to recapture form of old they are still a top eight side, lets not forget that. There are worse bets than backing the 6-1 for the 1-1 correct score.
Living up to the Super Sunday name, Liverpool – fresh from the 2-1 victory at Chelsea last weekend – take on Premier League leaders Manchester City at Anfield.
It should be a lively encounter with both teams going for the win. Goals are expected as this clash completes the weekend of football in the Premier League.
Daglish’s men were highly impressive in their win over Chelsea last week, but looking down their team sheet I can only pick out one or two players who would walk into the Man City starting XI. Gerrard (who is out injured) , Suarez and thats just about it.
I can’t forget how poor Liverpool were in their last home game against Swansea and Man City at 13/8 leaps off the coupon. Lets not forget that City have already scored 6 against Man Utd and 5 against Tottenham away from the Etihad already this season, and that price is just too big to ignore.
Best of luck with your bets and take advantage of Paddy Power’s free bet offer!
