This is bad news for Kenny Dalglish. Brazilian international Lucas Leiva has been in fine form and was perhaps the most in form defensive midfielder in the Premier League this season and now the Merseyside club must cope without the 24 year old for the rest of the campaign.
Liverpool have recalled Jonjo Shelvey from Blackpool in an effort to boost their options though the youngster is not exactly a like for like replacement and Dalglish may look to bring in additional reinforcements to add more steel to the club’s midfield.
