Stamford Bridge boss to get transfer fund injection.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to offer Andre Villas-Boas a significant transfer war-chest to help get his Blues side back on track in pursuit of the likes of Man United and Man City. The Russian is ready to back his embattled boss despite the fairly average start to his Stamford Bridge reign.
Villas-Boas has reportedly identified four targets he hopes to lure to the West London club either in January or failing that, in the summer transfer window. A number of members of Chelsea’s current squad are likely to leave as the young Portuguese manager looks to put his stamp on the club.
Transfer requests handed in by Nicolas Anelka and Alex have already been accepted and the Chelsea careers of up to half a dozen other first team players hang in the balance.
Luka Modric continues to be a Chelsea target and though the West London side failed to persuade Tottenham to sell the Croatian schemer in the summer Villas-Boas will try again to persuade White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy to sell. The former Dynamo Zagreb man did make it clear he wanted to make the move across the capital but perhaps Spurs great start to the season will make him think twice about such a transfer now?
