What players will arrive at Emirates Stadium in January 2012?
1. Mario Gotze
Still just 19 and yet a regular in the Germany team and widely regarded as the most exciting talent in the Bundesliga, it seems inevitable that Mario Gotze will try his luck in either Spain or England sooner or later.
It could be soon if recent newspaper reports are to be believed.
That could be because unless a miracle happens, Borussia Dortmund will be eliminated from the UEFA Champions League – and Gotze belongs on the biggest stage of all.
The teenage playmaker would not come cheap, but there are three reasons his mooted £30m price tag could be of great value.
The first is that Gotze is a fine goal threat from attacking midfield.
The second is that Arsenal are locked in tight Premier League competition to qualify for next season’s Champions League, and quality reinforcements could make the difference.
The third is that with Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott yet to sign new contracts, a deal for big name player could be the trigger needed to get them to commit.
