How can Alex McLeish get things back on track at Villa Park?
1. James McCarthy
It is safe to say that Aston Villa are not the most exciting team to watch in the Premier League at present. When they faced Tottenham Hotspur last month, their wingers were Alan Hutton and Emile Heskey.
While they sit in a quite reasonable 9th place at present, Alex McLeish – a man who has been relegated twice in the last three seasons – presides over a team that scores an average of just 1.13 goals per game.
While Darren Bent can be clinical in front of goal, he struggles to find the net when starved of service, and that is the problem.
James McCarthy at Wigan Athletic is currently struggling in a struggling team, but in a larger side he could fulfil his potential.
