Old Trafford full back not a happy man.
Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has called his side’s shock Champions League exit “embarrassing” and “a catastrophe”.
The three-time European champions lost 2-1 at Basel to finish third in Group C and will drop into the Europa League.
“It is embarrassing to be in the Europa League. I play for Manchester United to be in the Champions League,” said the 30-year-old France defender.
“It’s a catastrophe. We feel very sad but we deserve to go out.”

Strong words from the Frenchman and can you blame him? Man United had a fairly easy Champions League group and struggled from the off and last night’s defeat was the icing on the cake.
Is the left back out of order for stating that participation in the Europa League is ’embarrassing’ well perhaps but again you can hardly blame him. UEFA’s second competition has been devalued in recent years and sides regularly field second string sides and one wonders just how Sir Alex Ferguson will approach the competition.
On the plus side it would be a new piece of silverware for the Scot to lift.
