Anfield boss to make transfer window raid to help beef up attacking options.
Liverpool to ‘rival Juventus for Gaston Ramirez transfer’
Gaston Ramirez is set to be the subject of bids from both Liverpool and Juventus when the January transfer window opens.
The Uruguayan playmaker has emerged as one of the most in-demand players in Italy, thanks to his impressive form since joining Bologna from Penarol in 2010.
It was thought Juventus would land the 21-year-old at the end of the season, but reports in Italy have suggested the situation has changed.
Liverpool have had Ramirez watched and manager Kenny Dalglish is apparently now keen to bring him to Anfield to play alongside his international team-mates Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates.
Should the Reds make a £15million move in January, the Turin-based club would be forced to bring forward their plans to sign the youngster and make a rival offer.
One would’ve thought that Liverpool had enough creative midfield options given the player Kenny Dalglish has brought in over the past year but the truth is that the Anfield side has struggled to break down the opposition this season and the Scot is willing to spend big to help his side get into gear in the final third.
Over the summer the Merseyside club spent big to bring in the likes of Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing, players who should help create chances for the likes of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll to put away, however Liverpool have managed just 18 goals in 15 matches.
That total is even more worrying when you consider that Liverpool have managed a grand total of four goals against ‘lesser’ teams QPR, Fulham, Swansea City, Norwich City, Sunderland and Stoke City. Luis Suarez has been been the main source of goals but the Uruguayan has also had to become a chief creator, such are the lack of effective assist making option, hence the interest in Gaston Ramirez.
The strongly built forward can play either as a second striker or in the hole behind a frontman and given that Liverpool already have two of his fellow countrymen at the club in the form of Suarez and youngster Sebastian Coates, a move to the Premier League club would almost certainly interest the 20 year old Bologna man.
