Who will go to Loftus Road this January?
1. Jermain Defoe
Queens Park Rangers are currently performing the worst of the promoted sides – though they are by no means performing terribly, and sit four points clear of the relegation zone.
However, the season only intensifies as it moves on, and points will be increasingly difficult to come by.
Heidar Helguson has been in impressive form for QPR this season with six goals, but he hasn’t had a great deal of assistance in the goalscoring stakes from his team-mates.
Strike partner Jay Bothroyd has scored just two goals – both in losses.
Perhaps additional competition up front is required in the form of an experienced Premier League marksman.
Jermain Defoe has recently been spending plenty of time on the bench at Tottenham Hotspur, and with rumours today surfacing that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will look to sign Carlos Tevez from Manchester City, Defoe may find himself on the market.
He may be the epitome of a playground footballer – run really fast then kick the ball hard at the goal – but he has proven his ability to score goals in the Premier League.
That could be vital in keeping QPR in the top flight.
