Emirates Stadium boss keen on young attacker.
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £7.5m bid for Championship attacker Wilfried Zaha after scouting the Crystal Palace youngster for the past six months.
Arsene Wenger is just one of many Premier League boss’s who have been monitoring the 19 year old Selhurst Park man and with the likes of Newcastle United and QPR said to have stepped up their efforts to lure the starlet the Gunners manager is ready to sanction a bid for the Ivory Coast born youngster who has only recently signed a new long term contract.
Arsenal have picked up a number of players from the lower leagues in recent years, most prominently Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey from Southampton and Cardiff City respectively. Over the summer Wenger continued this policy by signing defender Carl Jenkinson from Charlton Athletic.
Zaha is an adaptable attacking option with plenty of speed as well as a good touch. The England Under 19 international has been a virtual ever present for Crystal Palace this season under new boss Dougie Freedman and has been especially impressive in the South London club’s run to the Carling Cup semi-finals, which included a famous victory over Man United at Old Trafford.
Freedman will struggle to fight off interest in his prized asset but Wenger is said to be ready to offer Zaha back on loan to the Championship side until the end of the season as part of any deal to sign the Crystal Palace man.
