New Parc des Princes manager wants Old Trafford star.
Newly installed Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti is said to be looking to make an ambitious move for Man United winger Nani. The former Chelsea boss will reportedly make a £25m offer for the Portuguese attacker but may struggle to convince Sir Alex Ferguson to consider offers for such a crucial member of his first team.
Nani found himself out of the Man United first team picture towards the end of last season and was not named in the starting eleven for the Champions League Final against Barcelona, this led to much speculation that the former Sporting Lisbon man was unhappy and considering leaving Old Trafford in the summer. The arrival of Ashley Young from Aston Villa only served to further the speculation.
However this season the tricky winger has been a virtual ever present this season, starting 17 out of the club’s 19 Premier League games and weighing in with six goals and seven assists.
Ancelotti will be handed a large transfer budget as he looks to help PSG’s lengthy wait for a Ligue 1 title, his predecessor Antoine Kombouare spent over £80m on new additions over the summer and the club’s Qatari owners will look to the Italian to persuade big names to make the move to the Parc des Princes.
The PSG boss will look to nab Nani in the summer but may inquire about the player’s availability in January but may find it very hard to wrestle the Man United man away from the club he joined in 2007.
Nani had been somewhat overshadowed in his early career by fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo but once he made his big money move to Real Madrid the Cape Verde born 25 year old has ably filled his former team-mates boots and has now amassed 180 appearances for Man United and scored 35 goals.
