Matias Suarez, that is…
Arsenal are mulling over a move for Anderlecht forward Matias Suarez this January to provide further backup to Robin van Persie up front.
With Gervinho heading to the African Cup of Nations with Cote D’Ivoire, Arsenal need additional cover.
Thierry Henry is likely to be brought in to play either in van Persie’s position of central striker or the inside left position of Gervinho, but of course, he cannot cover for both simultaneously.
Arsenal scouts were spotted at Anderlecht’s Constant Vanden Stock Stadium in December, and it is believed that Matias Suarez was being watched with a January transfer in mind.
The 23 year-old Argentine has scored 14 goals in 22 starts this season, including 7 in 6 in the UEFA Europa League.
“I do dream of a big transfer, but at the moment it is quiet,” said Suarez.
Certainly more prolific than Marouane Chamakh or Park Chu Young anyway…
