Old Trafford side scout Nou Camp youngster ahead of proposed move.
Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca.
El Mundo Deportivo says United chief scout Martin Ferguson was at Camp Nou last night watching Barcelona crush Osasuna in the Copa del Rey.
Ferguson was watching 20-year-old winger Cuenca.
He is out of contract in the summer and could sign on a Bosman this month for a team outside of La Liga. The youngster is said to want to stay with the European champions.
This may prove to be a sensible, if probably fruitless, bid to consider. Isaac Cuenca has looked mighty impressive when Pep Guardiola has called upon his services and given that he could be snapped up on a Bosman this month then there seems little harm in Man Unitedexpressing their interest in the Spanish Under 21 international right winger.
20 year old Cuenca has netted four times in eight starts this term but the talented winger knows that he is a way down the pecking order at the Nou Camp, with the likes of Pedro, David Villa and Cesc Fabregas all able to fill the right side of Guardiola’s successful three pronged attack so he must think long and hard about committing to the Catalan side.
Cuenca does seem to be keen to stay at Barcelona to fight for his place but that hasn’t stopped speculation of a possible move for his services with Man United being one of many sides scouting the youngster, who only returned to the La Liga giants after loan periods away with lower league sides for the best part of the last four years.
There are also reports that Guardiola is similarly looking to snatch a Man United youth team player, Ravel Morrison, who is also said to be stalling on signing a new Man United deal.
