White Hart Lane to make customary Upton Park purchase.
James Tomkins is on Spurs’ wanted list.
The 22-year-old has been under scrutiny all season and boss Harry Redknapp believes the centre-back is ready to join his squad.
Spurs may offer West Ham £8m for Tomkins, with the sale of Sebastien Bassong set to raise £5m of that.

Tottenham have been relatively solid at the back this season but have, as has been the norm for a few years, suffered with injury concerns and now Harry Redknapp is looking to offload one defensive option to fund another. White Hart Lane chairman has insisted that the Spurs boss trims his squad before he can bring in new additions and clearly Sebastien Bassong is a player the North London club can afford to sell.
West Ham are clearly no stranger to moves made by Tottenham for their top performers but Sam Allardyce will hope that youngster Tomkins opts against pursuing a move and stick with the East London side as they look to make an instant return to the top flight.
Bassong has made just one Premier League start this season and is apparently being tracked by a number of Ligue 1 sides.
