Bavarian side want Old Trafford bench warmer.
Dimitar Berbatov could be swapping Manchester for Munich, with German giants Bayern reportedly interested in signing the striker.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson recently said he wanted Berbatov to stay at Old Trafford for another year, and would activate a clause in the Bulgarian’s contract to ensure this happens.
But that won’t necessarily put off Bayern from making a move for the 30-year-old.
The German giants are resigned to losing Ivica Olic in January or in the summer, and are already looking around for replacements.
Berbatov has been with United since 2008, and was top scorer in the Premier League last season, helping the Reds to a record 19th league title.
His chances have been limited this term, making just four Premier League starts.
He does still regularly find the net when called upon though, and scored five league goals last month.

Would Bayern Munich really be looking to bring Dimitar Berbatov to the Allianz Arena? It’s a move that doesn’t appear to make a great deal of sense. Boss Jupp Heynckes is looking to plan for the future and his Bundesliga side have no problems finding the back of the net as it is, with 43 goals from 17 domestic league games, some way more than any other side in the division.
Berbatov has found first team football hard to come by at Man United this season, having fallen down the pecking order behind Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck. However the Bulgarian has had no problems finding the back of the net when called upon, hence Sir Alex Ferguson being happy to offer the former Tottenham man a new deal.
The 30 year old forward enjoyed a successful spell in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen between 2001 and 2006 and may well be considering his options but a move to Bayern Munich would almost certainly involve swapping one bench for another as the German giants currently opt for one player up front, that being Mario Gomez who is perhaps one of the most in form strikers in Europe.
The 26 year old having netted an astonishing 63 goals in his last 70 matches for Bayern Munich.
