Stamford Bridge set to welcome new defensive addition.
Bolton defender Gary Cahill is in London for a medical at Chelsea on Saturday, BBC Sport understands.
It is believed the England centre-back has already agreed personal terms.
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas had earlier said he was confident the deal, reportedly worth about £7m, would be completed “this week”.
Bolton accepted Chelsea’s bid for the 26-year-old nearly two weeks ago but negotiating personal terms has reportedly been a lengthy process.

And those personal terms that the BBC alludes to are said to be worth a whopping £23m to the England international, who’s Blues deal runs all the way until 2017. Andre Villas-Boas has battled long and hard to land the Trotters defender and the Chelsea boss will hope that the 26 year old will help steady the ship at the back as the West London side look to force their way back into the title race and a strong Champions League run.
As one centre back arrives it appears another is close to agreeing an exit. Brazilian defender Alex is said to be the subject of a renewed bid from QPR and the 29 year old is believed to be keen on a possible short distance move to Loftus Road though a number of club’s on the continent are also interested in the former PSV man.
