17 year-old international goalkeeper set for Emirates?
Greece goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino is believed to be a transfer target for Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger seeks new competition for his Polish custodian Wojciech Szczesny.
Current backup options Manuel Almunia and Vito Mannone have proved particularly error prone, while Lukasz Fabianski has only impressed in fits and starts.
Kapino is just 17, but the 6’5″ ‘keeper has already been capped for Greece, and a hugely bright future is anticipated of the teenager.
Unsurprisingly his club Panathinaikos rate him pretty highly too though, and he has already established himself as the team’s number one.
It may now be too late for Wenger to acquire him at the bargain price he was reportedly hoping for, but any move for Kapino could prove a sound investment indeed.
If Arsenal can shift Almunia – thought to be on huge £50,000 per week wages – they could use that money to sign the young Greek player.
