Zakaria Labyad set for Stamford Bridge move?
Chelsea have been linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder Zakaria Labyad, who is considered one of the brightest young talents to have emerged in the Netherlands in quite some time.
The 18 year-old has earned plaudits for his displays in the Eredivisie and UEFA Europa League this season, and seems to be making the step up to regular first team football rather well.
This season the teenager has scored 8 goals and provided 11 assists in 26 appearances, meaning he has the impressive record of directly contributing to a goal every 1.37 matches.
Labyad can play on either wing, as well as in the proverbial number 10 position behind strikers, and has most recently been compared to former PSV star Ibrahim Affelay, now playing his football at FC Barcelona.
His potential is clear to see with his statistics, but would he adapt readily to Premier League football?
That is almost impossible to determine at such an early stage of a player’s career, but Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Bielsa has long held the belief that younger players take on philosophies and learn more readily.
Chelsea will hope he performs as well as Arjen Robben did when he moved to the club.
