Valencia left back Jordi Alba says he has no intention of leaving the Primera Division club, quelling recent rumours linking him with Manchester United.
Alba has recently made the left side of defence his own in the Spain international set up, and the 22 year-old could have a decade ahead of him as the first choice for his country at the highest level.
Still, despite only being ever likely to finish third or worst in La Liga behind Barcelona and Real Madrid, and Valencia being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, Alba is happy where he is.
“Some people like me, maybe, but there has never been a firm proposal and I do not want to get into anything. It is irrelevant,” Alba told Radio Valencia.
“I’ve always said I’m very comfortable here. My intention is to continue for many years and I have never said anything different.
“I’ve always told the truth. The issue does not bother me but I always answer the same way.
“People can think what they want, I’m comfortable here.
“I want to renew my contract and that says it all. Everything else is hearsay. I have a contract until 2013 and we’ll see how it ends.”
Manchester United left back Patrice Evra has recently struggled for form, but there appears little sign Sir Alex Ferguson intends to replace him.
Was there ever a chance Alba was going to sign at Man Utd, or is he just searching for a new contract offer?
