Mame Biram Diouf leaving Old Trafford.
Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf is on the verge of a loan switch to Bundesliga club Hannover 96, according to German tabloid Bild.
The newspaper reported Hannover director of football Joerg Schmadtke flew to England earlier in the week, and now claim that he met with Diouf and his agent Jim Solbakken.
“There have been discussions with the player’s representative,” said Schmadtke.
“We have shared our thoughts. I am now waiting for a response.”
Whilst Schmadtke is a fan of the player – “He is fast, robust and direct,” he recently enthused – it is his coach he has to convince.
Mirko Slomka, the team’s coach, has in fact never seen Diouf in action.
Bild claim Hannover 96 and Manchester United have already started preliminary discussions regarding a future transfer fee, should the loan prove a success. That is reportedly around the 4 million Euro mark.
It will be interesting to see if Diouf can justify the expenditure.
Despite officially arriving at Manchester United player in January 2010, Diouf has scored more goals for Blackburn Rovers during a loan spell (6) than he has for the Red Devils (1).
Will Mame Biram Diouf be a success at Hannover 96?
Manchester United fans will hope so, in order for a transfer to be pushed through, for there has been no indication that he will make the grade at Old Trafford.
