Old Trafford boss ready to sell?
Roma have made a shock enquiry for Ravel Morrison – and the Manchester United youngster is open to the idea of moving to Italy.
talkSPORT understands Morrison is ready to leave Old Trafford in this transfer window after growing frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities.
The highly-rated 18-year-old has six months left on his contract and Sir Alex Ferguson claimed last week he had made ‘unrealistic’ demands over a new deal.
Morrison has since denied ever turning down fresh terms but talkSPORT has been told he is now ready to quit United.
Sir Alex Ferguson faces a tough decision. Does he sell an undoubted talent such as youngster Ravel Morrison or does he give in to his ‘unrealistic’ demands? The Scot will almost certainly opt to sell as the Old Trafford boss has never been one to kowtow to ultimatums and the simple truth is that Man United appear to have enough young talents either in their first team squad or very near it, to be able to afford allowing the 18 year old to leave.
Ferguson has brought in a number of young talents over the past couple of years, with the likes of Javier Hernandez, Chris Smalling, David de Gea and Phil Jones firmly ensconced in the first team. Academy graduates Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck have also broken into the starting plans and then you add in other youthful talents like Brazilian full backs Fabio and Rafael and you can see that the future is pretty much taken care of.
Many of Morrison’s fellow youth team and reserve team-mates are also now on the fringes of the first team with Will Keane, Oliver Norwood and Ezekiel Fryers all considered hot prospects and it is easier to see how things may pan out for the teenage contract rebel.
Newcastle United put in a £500k bid for Morrison earlier this month, according to talkSPORT, that bid was rejected but if Roma put in a larger offer than they may well get their man.
