Emirates Stadium side keen on young attack minded midfielder.
Manchester United aren’t the only side to be showing an interest in CSKA Moscow star, Alan Dzagoev, with Arsenal reportedly preparing a bid for the youngster.
The 21 year-old has earned considerable plaudits over recent seasons leading many, including current Arsenal attacker Andrey Arshavin, to label the starlet as one of the promising players in Russian football.
The Gunners were being linked with the Russian international months ago and are said to have sent a scouting team to run the rule over the playmaker.
Dzagoev is being monitored by Manchester United, who are in the market for a playmaking talent of their own, however Wenger will be looking to pip their rivals to the creative star’s signature with a £15m move in his sights.
Dzagoev, available for around £15m, may seem a more realistic and cost effective option than chasing big name youngsters like Eden Hazard and Mario Gotze, both of whom are said to have price tags almost twice as large as the Russian international.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is clearly not known for his big spending so he may be more open to spending less cash to secure a less well known playmaker if he indeed feels that Dzagoev has something to offer the North London club and clearly should the CSKA Moscow man have an effective Euro 2012 then his valuation could sky rocket.
Having lost the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri in the summer, and arguably not adequately replaced either, Wenger may well feel he needs a creator to help provide ammunition for his attack as well as a player from his midfield who can weigh in with his own end product.
Wenger will of course have done a great deal of scouting of the young playmaker before he considers launching a move for the CSKA Moscow man and he may feel that the time is right to sell Arshavin, and possibly others, to help fund such a move.
