Every single Premier League weekend is important, but the next few days are going to be crucial for how things are shaping up at the top and bottom of the table.
There are, as ever, plenty of betting opportunities this weekend too. Will there be a shock result? Who is going to grab the goals? Which three teams will be in the bottom three by Monday morning?
A good place to start is the first Premier League game of the weekend. Norwich City – who are 9th in the table as things stand – host Chelsea in the early kick-off on Saturday lunch-time.
This is definitely a candidate for a classic Premier League upset. Norwich are in confident mood right now, while Chelsea have had their ups and downs this season. A Canaries victory is available at 5/1, while the draw is 3/1.
There are then six 3pm kick-offs and all of these are extremely tough to call. Everton will be favourites to beat Blackburn for example, but it could go either way.
The same applies to Stoke v West Brom, Sunderland v Swansea and Queens Park Rangers v Wigan. The home teams are slight favourites to claim the points, but each away team is worth considering in this weekend’s betting market.
If you are to back an away victory, Aston Villa to come away from Wolves with the points might be the way to go.
Wolves’ confidence would have been knocked by defeat to Birmingham during the week and a 1-0 Villa win at 8/1 looks a rather attractive option. You can also back on-loan striker Robbie Keane to score the first goal against his old club at 6/1.
Then, Newcastle will be backed by many to get the points at Fulham in the final 3pm kick-off, but the Cottagers often raise their game against the big teams, so a score draw might be the way to go in this one.
Finally for Saturday, in the 5.30pm kick-off between Bolton v Liverpool, this is a game to focus on the first goalscorer market. David N’Gog – who signed for Bolton from Liverpool in the summer – is 11/1 to open the scoring for example.
Then, on Sunday, there are two fantastic matches to bet on. First Manchester City take on Tottenham before Arsenal host Manchester United in two fascinating contests that are extremely significant to this season’s title race.
With the pressure set to be intense, it is interesting to see that for the away teams – Tottenham and Manchester United – you can get odds of 11/1.
Who knows what will happen though, what are your predictions?
