Anfield star on the mend.
Liverpool have greatly missed Lucas Leiva. The Brazilian was in hot form before he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury which will rule him out for the rest of the campaign, but the battling midfielder’s return to Merseyside after weeks of surgery and rehabilitation will please fans of the Anfield club as well as his team-mates and boss Kenny Dalglish.
Liverpool have failed to cope without the presence of the defensive midfielder and have managed to collect just three wins in he nine Premier League matches Lucas has been absent from, which is in marked contrast to the 11 game unbeaten run the club had amassed prior to his injury.
Jay Spearing had been drafted in to fill the void but more recently Dalglish has opted to play without a recognised defensive midfielder and this has not proved all that successful. The Liverpool boss may well opt to bring in a new addition to help the club push for a much coveted top four finish.
