Liverpool are considering a big money move for Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez, report Spanish newspaper Marca.
The 26 year-old has emerged as one of the key players for Los Che – particularly since they were forced to sell some of their best players due to financial troubles.
In the last few seasons, that has included the likes of David Villa to Barcelona, David Silva to Manchester City and Juan Mata to Chelsea.
It would seem that Liverpool are the next club looking to buy into the impressive production line that is Valencia’s youth academy, and Pablo Hernandez is their target.
There would be clear need for Hernandez at Anfield.
Despite how well Liverpool played on Wednesday evening in their 2-2 draw against Manchester City, they still scored just a single goal from open play, with their opener coming from a Steven Gerrard penalty.
Hernandez is a direct runner at opponents, with good vision and crossing ability, as well as the ability to play on either wing.
He plays most of his football on the right flank though, and would be a more cultured option than the hardworking Dirk Kuyt.
Kuyt played behind Craig Bellamy up front against Man City, and whilst the delicate slide rule pass is not his forte, his ability to run himself into the ground will always put defenders under pressure. Andy Carroll only came on with a few minutes remaining, and headed down the tunnel immediately at the final whistle.
Still, at some point Kenny Dalglish will have to either work out a way to get the best out of Carroll or cut his losses.
Should he move for Pablo Hernandez, it could be assumed that he hasn’t given up on his giant Geordie just yet.
