Emirates Stadium boss readies bid for talented youngster.
Arsenal are said to be readying a £7.5m bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha having watched Bolton fail with two bids to sign the talented young attacker. Arsene Wenger has been monitoring the 19 year old for the past 6 months and has sent scouts to evaluate the England Under 19 international and is now ready to make an offer for the Championship wide-man.
Zaha has been a virtual ever present for Dougie Freedman’s side this term and has been a constant attacking threat for the Eagles as they look to push on towards a play-off spot. It was perhaps the Ivory Coast born teenager’s performances in Crystal Palace’s impressive Carling Cup run that attracted most headlines and a number of sides have made their interest in the youngster well known.
Owen Coyle has attempted to snap up Zaha over the past few days but has seen offers in the region of £5m turned down but Arsenal appear to be ready to make a better offer and will also offer to loan back the player for the remainder of the season, a deal that may well suit Freedman as he probably knows all too well that the chances of keeping such a prodigious talent at the South London club may prove very difficult indeed.
Wenger has brought in a number of talented youngsters from the ‘lower leagues’ in recent years and Zaha would do well to look at the successful career progression that the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have enjoyed since their moves to the Emirates Stadium.
With wide-man Andrei Arshavin said to be likely to leave the North London club and other attackers also fighting for their Arsenal futures, Zaha may feel a move to the Gunners would be a very wise one to make, not least because of Wenger’s reputation as a manager who trusts to youth.
