Adam Johnson set for Goodison Park?
Everton have approached Manchester City about securing Adam Johnson on loan for the rest of the season, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.
The former Middlesbrough winger has struggled to make a first team slot his own at the Etihad Stadium, and in a strange way it may be his threat from the bench that counts against him.
Johnson has made his name at Man City as an impact sub able to stretch tired defences and score late goals, but when he is required from the start of matches he can end up in a sort of stalemate with the opposition defenders.
His starts for the club have been sporadic at best, and perhaps a move to another club on loan with regular selection from the beginning of matches would help him develop into a constant threat from the off.
Toffees boss David Moyes has proven his skill at developing promising talents into players close to a finished product, and Johnson would likely flourish under his watch.
However, whether Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is willing to allow his wildcard from the bench to play elsewhere when the title is at stake is anyone’s guess.
