Anfield side keen on Blackpool attacker.
Despite the fact that Blackpool manager has slapped a reported £10m price-tag on his starlet, Liverpool are maintaining interest in Matt Phillips with the view to summer move.
The 20 year-old has impressed greatly this season and was attracting a host of Premier League attention with Chelsea, Tottenham and Sunderland all being linked with moves for the player in January.
However, a move failed to materialize but a summer switch is a strong possibility with the same clubs showing an interest in a summer transfer.
Phillips featured for the Tangerines in their 2010-11 Premier League campaign but didn’t get his real chance at first team action until the current campaign.
Liverpool’s youthful transfer policy has led to the purchase of a number of players that Kenny Dalglish will be looking to become part of the club’s long term first team plans and a move for Matt Phillips may be a sensible one but will the Merseyside club be willing to stump up £10m for the 20 year old?
Anfield scouts have been monitoring the former Wycombe man and he has been in great form of late, notching up nine goals in his last nine games. Phillips plays in a wide role but may well be seen as a player who can be moved into a striking role.
Ian Holloway has snubbed Cardiff City’s interest in the youngster but may find it harder to prevent his Blackpool starlet from having his head turned by interest shown by a side in the upper reaches of the Premier League.
