LIVERPOOL FC have no intention of selling under-fire striker Luis Suarez – despite reports saying the Reds want to off-load the Uruguayan this summer.
The 25-year-old’s Anfield career has been thrown into doubt after his refusal to shake Patrice Evra’s hand before Saturday’s league game with Manchester United at Old Trafford, sparked widespread condemnation and brought further negativity on the club.
Although it remains unclear if Suarez will face any club sanctions, it is expected Liverpool will not ostracise the Uruguayan and give him the chance to make up for the sorry episode.
Suarez has to win back the trust of those who have shown faith in him and Liverpool legend Alan Hansen says the Uruguayan is certain to be given the chance to make amends.
“Suarez now has to make sure that, from this point on, we are only talking about his football and the good things he brings to Liverpool and the Premier League,” said Hansen. “But he is such a good player; one who brings so much quality to the Liverpool team, that there is no way that the club will get rid of him.

There is no doubt that both the initial charge leveled at Luis Suarez and the fall out from his decision to not shake hands with Patrice Evra have damaged the club’s standing but the apologies handed out by both the Uruguayan and boss Kenny Dalglish following the Old Trafford debacle on the weekend will have helped to correct the situation and though some had speculated that Liverpool could decide to sell the former Ajax man, it really was something of a non-starter in many ways.
The 25 year old has been very effective in his first year at the club, scoring 13 times and assisting another 11, he is definitely the Merseyside club’s most able attacking option and any hope Liverpool have of snatching a top four finish this term will rest a great deal on what impact he can make now that he has returned from his eight match ban.
With Andy Carroll, though improving, still unable to make a tangible contribution to Liverpool’s attack the likes of Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt have on occasion helped to turn draws into wins and the veteran pair may come in handy as the Premier League season enters it’s final stretch.
Liverpool find themselves in seventh spot but still just four points from fourth spot and with still 13 games to go Kenny Dalglish will hope that his side can put in a solid run of form until mid May.
No doubt if the club do not clinch that coveted top four finish then such speculation will whirl up again.
