Carlos Tevez must have a second medical with Manchester City after returning from Argentina.
The 28 year-old striker has been out of action for the last three months on unauthorised leave, having been banished from the squad.
That was after allegedly refusing to warm up to face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, and it constitutes a remarkable fall from grace for the Argentina international striker.
Last season, he was the joint top goalscorer in the Barclays Premier League alongside Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov – who incidentally is also not particularly in favour at his club at present.
Now though, Tevez is fourth in the Eastlands pecking order behind Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko, and has lost the captain’s armband to Belgian defender Vincent Kompany.
Still, with City short of senior strikers, Tevez may be asked to play a part in the crunch stage of the season, and he has been named by Roberto Mancini in his 25 man Premier League squad for the rest of the season.
The only question is how fit he has kept himself in his time away from the club.
Could Tevez be the man to win or lose Manchester City the Premier League title?
