Striker nearing White Hart Lane move?
Brazilian sensation Leandro Damiao has claimed that Tottenham have lodged an offer for him.
Spurs have long been linked with the Internacional striker, who is widely tipped to move to Europe this summer.
The 22-year-old, who has a hugely impressive goal-scoring record in Brazil with more than a goal every other game, has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and most recently Paris Saint Germain.
But Spurs have always held an interest and now, speaking to the French media, Damiao has insisted they have made an offer.
“I am not aware of anything for an offer from Paris SG. I have had no contact with PSG or Leonardo [sporting director],” he said in an interview with Telefoot.
“For now, I think about my club and the Copa Libertadores. In July, if a proposal comes, it will be discussed.
“All that I know is that Tottenham have made an offer.”

Tottenham could well do with alternative attacking options come the summer. Emmanuel Adebayor and Louis Saha are only on loan at the North London club and given that the likes of Peter Crouch, Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko have all left White Hart Lane in the past nine months a move for Leandro Damaio would be a wise, although probably an expensive, move to make.
Whilst it’s true that South Americans don’t have the greatest record of adapting to life in the Premier League, Harry Redknapp may well feel that the powerfully built Internacional striker can buck that trend. The 22 year old struck a very impressive 40 goals from 51 appearances last term and of the White Hart Lane side nabbed Sandro from the same Brazilian side so appear to have a good relationship with the Porto Alegre based side.
Tottenham are flying high at present and are genuine title chasers and virtually guaranteed Champions League football for next term and therefore can lure hot prospects which in turn should prove to the club’s top performers that they have ambitions to continue their progression, though clearly a lot could depend on what the future holds for Harry Redknapp.
The former West Ham and Portsmouth boss is the favourite to take over the England reins though Redknapp has himself attempting to distance himself from such speculation in recent weeks.
