Burak Yilmaz heading to Emirates Stadium?
Arsenal may look to Turkey to solve their goalscoring woes, with Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz rumoured to be in line for a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have had a torrid week.
Having been thrashed 4-0 by AC Milan in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, Arsene Wenger’s team then lost 2-0 to Sunderland in the FA Cup at the weekend to drop out of the only competition they had a realistic chance of winning.
It now appears likely that Arsenal will go a seventh successive season without a trophy.
Still, their pedigree at the highest level still makes them a desirable club to play for, and the Gunners have participated in the last 15 UEFA Champions League seasons.
That makes them a dream move for Yilmaz, who would make an exciting signing for the North London club.
The 6’2″ Turkey international has scored 29 times in 24 games this season – as well as supplying 7 assists.
That means from Trabzonspor’s 51 league goals scored so far, Yilmaz has directly contributed to 36 with a goal or final pass – 71% of his team’s total.
With Robin van Persie yet to sign a new contract at Arsenal, and believed to be considering his future based on the club’s final league position, Yilmaz may well be of interest to Arsene Wenger as he seeks more options up front.
They are certainly of interest to him.
“If I was to move abroad I would want it to be a big club,” revealed the 26 year-old.
“I would consider moving to England – if you’re wondering what team I’m considering, I can tell you that I would accept a transfer to Arsenal.”
