Old Trafford side want German international midfielder.
Manchester United ready to make approach for Munich talent
Following his Bundesliga exploits this season, Manchester United are reportedly mounting a summer approach to sign Bayern Munich midfielder, Toni Kroos.
The German international has started in 32 of his 33 appearances for the club this season, scoring on four occasions and recording 13 assists in the process.
Joachim Löw has paid corresponding attention to the youngster’s efforts also, handing the starlet his senior international debut in 2010, after which he has gone on to rack up an impressive 24 appearances for the German national side.
The 22 year-old is contracted at the Allianz Arena until 2015 but that won’t be expected to deter Manchester United too much, given their apparent need for a creative midfielder.
United will need to spend over £20m if they want to land Kroos’ signature, but given last summer’s expenditure and the club’s increasing profits, they may decide to splash the cash once again before Financial Fair Play makes too much of an impact.
Toni Kroos is considered one of the hottest prospects in German football and Bayern Munich will not relinquish such a talented player leave the Alianz Arena without a fight. The Bundesliga side have seen their form of late hit a blip that has seen them fall back to third in the league, some four points off top, and lose the first leg of their Champions League knock out match against Man United conquerors FC Basel, however that won’t make it any easier to wrestle the 22 year old from the Bavarian club.
Kroos spent 18 months out on loan at Bayer Leverkusen honing his trade before returning to the fold at Bayern Munich after the 2010 World Cup. The midfielder is now a regular in Jupp Heynckes first team and has been a virtual ever present this term.
Ferguson has opted for a youthful transfer policy over the past two years but whereas the signings of the likes of Javier Hernandez, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones were perhaps fairly easy to complete due to the size and stature of Man United over the selling club a move for Kroos could prove very difficult to pull off.
Kroos has collected four goals and 12 assists this term and is a box to box midfielder who could well be of great use at the Premier League club.
