Chelsea plan to offer their Ivorian forward Salomon Kalou a massive £80,000 per week in an effort to prevent him leaving the West London club for nothing, according to the Daily Mail.

Kalou has a deal that runs out in the summer, and his future is very much shrouded in mystery at present.

He has hardly been a staple in the first team this season, with Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge tending to start either side of either Fernando Torres or Didier Drogba up front.

Still, whilst Kalou could be in line to receive a colossal wage rise, it still is very much a tough decision for the Cote D’Ivoire international.

Does he want to extend his future at Stamford Bridge, feeling that many chapters are yet to be written?

Or does he feel that at the age of 26 he is at something of a crossroads of his career?

Perhaps the answer to Kalou’s contract situation would lie in more first team selection – which in term could help his manager Andre Villas Boas turn around the struggling team.

Will Salomon Kalou stay at Stamford Bridge, or could he be one of the best bargains this summer?
