Stamford Bridge man suffers international axe.
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been left out of Spain’s squad for their friendly international against Venezuela in Malaga on Wednesday.
Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque stressed there could still be changes to the squad before this summer’s European Championship in Ukraine and Poland.
But said he wanted to reward players who had been performing well.
Del Bosque said: “He is a lad we appreciate a lot and it pains me to leave him out but I wanted to be fair.”

And Vicente del Bosque is indeed being very fair. When a striker has as horrible a run of form as Fernando Torres has had then he would clearly be expecting to be dropped from the international scene. After all if he was picked then a Spanish striker who was scoring goals regularly would have to wonder why he was being overlooked in preference of the Chelsea star.
The 27 year old striker has gone 20 Chelsea games without a goal and has only scored in two competitive Spanish internationals in almost four years!
