Anfield side keen on goal-scoring midfielder.
Liverpool target Marek Hamsik is also now on the transfer radar of Real Madrid say media reports from Italy today.
Kenny Dalglish has tracked the 24-year-old Napoli midfielder for a number of months and Liverpool were recently said to be preparing a summer move for the Slovakian international
However reports in today’s Corriere della Sera claim Jose Mourinho wants to bring Hamsik to Madrid, should he stay at the club past the end of the season.
Hamsik is currently one of the most sought-after players in Europe and has been linked to a host of clubs, although Liverpool had seemed to be favourites should Napoli agree to sell their prize asset.
The news that Mourinho is interested in the player may lead to a bidding war between any would-be suitors and recent reports suggest the player will not be allowed to leave Napoli for less than €26 million.

Liverpool’s hopes to capturing Slovakian international Marek Hamsik will fade greatly if they do not manage to secure a top four spot as the Napoli man will have greatly enjoyed the current Champions League campaign where he has managed to net twice and helped his Serie A side to the verge of a Quarter Final berth.
The 24 year old playmaker has been a huge success at the San Paolo and is now something of a cult hero at the club but there appears to be a chance that he could leave Naples according to some sources and a move to the Bernabeu may well prove very tempting to the former Brescia man.
Kenny Dalglish may well feel his side needs more creativity in the centre of their midfield and Hamsik is a top notch player who has a great deal of top level experience.
Mourinho would have the edge on Liverpool in the race for Hamsik’s signature but there may be a fear the Napoli man could struggle to secure regular first team football in a squad that has the likes of Kaka and Gonzalo Higuain warming the bench.
Hamsik has scored 50 goals for Napoli in 175 appearances, which is very good return for a central midfielder.
