Emirates Stadium side lead chase for Premier League performer.
Sky Sports understands that Arsenal are now leading the chase for Blackburn star Steven N’Zonzi.
A host of clubs were chasing the Frenchman in January, with Stoke making a move to try and lure him from Ewood Park.
Blackburn stood firm and the player was happy to stay until the summer and help with Rovers’ battle against relegation.
But it now seems that N’Zonzi is ready to move on at the end of the season, with a host of clubs ready to do battle.
Sky Sports understands that N’Zonzi has moved towards the top of Arsene Wenger’s wanted list following a string of excellent displays.
Wenger is already a confirmed fan, with his interest first emerging when Arsenal were linked with the former Amiens man back in 2010.
The Emirates boss has maintained an interest in the 23-year-old and it is believed the Gunners are now in pole position to land him.

Steven N’Zonzi has long been compared to former Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, and this source believes that Arsene Wenger is leading the chase for the former French Under 21 international.
The Blackburn Rovers midfielder certainly has the rangy style of Vieira and having spent three seasons at Ewood Park manfully trying to keep his side from the drop it seems likely that he could be on his way at the end of this campaign, especially if Steve Kean fails to keep them from being relegated to the Championship.
The 23 year old has been on the Gunners radar for over a year now and Wenger may well be tempted by the challenge of taking the raw ability N’Zonzi has and helping the former Amiens man fulfill his obvious potential. Whilst such a signing would not be an earth shattering one it would be a fairly typical Arsenal capture and an inexpensive one to make.
Though Arsenal possess the likes of Alex Song and Emmanuel Frimpong to offer a steely presence in the Emirates Stadium midfield Wenger may feel that N’Zonzi offers something else. The 6ft 4in Blackburn Rovers man has the ability to drive forward momentum in a manner that Song only occasional threatens to.
N’Zonzi is tied to a long term Blackburn Rovers contract, which will run until 2015, and this may well lead to the Lancashire club looking for a fairly hefty fee for the Frenchman.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle United are all also reportedly keen on N’Zonzi so a bidding war may well ensue this summer if Blackburn Rovers fail to beat the drop.
