Etihad Stadium striker to switch clubs? (see what we did there?)
Man City to offer Tevez for Real Madrid striker Higuain
Manchester City are eyeing Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The Daily Star says City boss Roberto Mancini has made Higuain his No.1 choice to replace Carlos Tevez at the Etihad Stadium.
Tevez is hoping to prove his fitness and get back into the Manchester City side following his infamous bust-up with Mancini.
But the City boss remains determined to sell the Argentine rebel in the summer and wants Higuain to fill his boots.
Mancini said: “Higuain is a top player, but we don’t want to sell Aguero for nothing. It’s impossible for us to sell him. He will stay here, but if Higuain wants to come here then we are happy.”
Whilst Gonzalo Higuain is by no means a first choice starter at the Bernabeu the Argentine has had no trouble regularly finding the back of the net for the Spanish giants, notching up 14 goals in 19 La Liga appearances this term, a great man of which came from the bench, and Jose Mourinho may not be willing to accept a swap deal that would see serial headache Carlos Tevez moving to the club.
Tevez has only just returned to the Etihad Stadium having gone AWOL following his infamous ‘bench-gate’ episode at the Allianz Arena. Given that the Man City man is some four years older than his international team-mate Higuain, one would wonder if the Premier League side would have to offer some cash into the bargain?
Real Madrid may well be looking to bring in another striker as Mourinho doesn’t have a great many recognised options to pick from but somehow this deal seems fairly unlikely.
Apart from anything else, why would Mancini need another forward anyway?
