Etihad Stadium side earmark move for Emirates Stadium striker as Real Madrid set sights on Sergio Aguero.
Spanish source AS is reporting that Man City are lining up a big money summer move for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie as Real Madrid set their sights on Etihad Stadium forward Sergio Aguero.
Roberto Mancini’s side are ready to offer the Gunners skipper a salary of as much £210k a week in an attempt to lure the Dutchman away from the North London club this summer. The 28 year old has been in outstanding form over the past two seasons and Arsene Wenger has heavily relied on the striker and can ill afford to lose the former Feyenoord man.
Van Persie will have just a year to run on his current contact come the end of the season and Wenger will be looking to get his skipper to put to paper on a new deal as soon as possible to avoid losing such a hugely important first team player at the end of the season.
Arsenal are beginning to get used to advances from Man City having lost the likes of Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri to the big spending side over the past few seasons.
Though Man City have been a free-scoring unit this term there has been issues with Mario Balotelli both on and off the field of play and Edin Dzeko may not be all that pleased about spending much of the season on the bench, therefore there could be a renewed need to bring in another attacking option, even if Aguero is not tempted into moving to the Bernabeu.
Wenger will look to bring in striker signings of his own to help provide Van Persie with much needed support, having seen Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho fail to make an impact in that regard.
