Emirates Stadium side looks to snap up Craven Cottage star as Arsene Wenger looks to beef up attacking options.
ARSENAL could make a £10million summer move for Fulham striker Clint Dempsey.
The American, who has scored 19 goals, was a target for Gunners manager Arsene Wenger last summer and he may be tempted again.
Arsenal could well do with an alternative source of goals and direct attacking intent and Clint Dempsey is in the form of his life but one wonders if Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in a player a player of 29 given his penchant for looking to the future, that said the Frenchman was happy to fork out a similar sum of money for Everton’s Mikel Arteta, who is of similar age.
Dempsey is an adaptable talent, comfortable on the ball and a quick thinking player who is has been a huge success since his move to Fulham in 2006. This term he has amassed a personal best total of 19 goals in all competitions and £10m would seem a very fair price to pay for the American.
The likes of Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho have failed to make an impact and there is a distinct lack of goals coming from Arsenal’s midfield, an area where the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri were very handy contributors so a move for Dempsey could be seen as being a way of filling any number of possible slots in the Arsenal armoury but perhaps he would be best used as a partner for Van Persie up top.
