Turin side plot move for Etihad Stadium striker. Argentine is a wanted man again. Serie A side also track Anfield man.
Juventus are planning a £40m bid for Carlos Tevez this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Turin giants are desperate to re-establish themselves as one of Europe’s major powers and they are currently fighting for the Serie A title.
They are two points behind leaders AC Milan but are already planning for next season, with Manchester City striker Tevez a top target.
The Argentine striker is back playing for Manchester City following a truce with Roberto Mancini, but his long-term future at the club is in considerable doubt.
And Juventus hope to step in this summer and make their move for the unsettled striker, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
It is claimed that Tevez is preferred to the club’s other targets, which include his Etihad team-mate Eden Dzeko and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
Juventus have been a side re-born under new boss Antonio Conte, effectively eliminating all memory of two lean seasons and though the Turin side have thus far gone the entire Serie A season unbeaten they still find themselves behind AC Milan in the table and this is due in the main to a lack of a killer instinct up front.
Conte’s side have managed just 49 goals from 30 Serie A games and there top scorer Alessandro Matri, has managed just ten goals, compare that to AC Milan’s top marksman Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has amassed 22 goals in domestic league action this campaign.
Carlos Tevez has found his way back into the Man City fold but many believe this is due mainly because of Roberto Mancini’s side slump in form and a need to show prospective suitors that the Argentine is still a viable signing. The 28 year old will more than likely leave the Etihad Stadium this summer and if Juventus make an offer of as much as £40m then he will be offloaded in an instant.
The fact that Juventus are also looking at Edin Dzeko, a player who has been criminally underused despite his terrific strike rate, highlights just how much in need of an attacking makeover Juventus are.
Moves for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will surely fall on deaf ears as the Anfield side will surely not consider selling their only effective striking option and certainly wouldn’t choose to sell the Uruguayan so unless the 25 year old pushed for a move, which is unlikely, there appears little mileage in that Juventus chase.
