Old Trafford side keen on in form Rayo Vallecano man.
Sir Alex Ferguson is set to express his interest in Rayo Vallecano attacker Michu. The Old Trafford boss has sent scouts to monitor the 26 year old Spaniard throughout the season and has been impressed by the glowing reports that he has received and will look to pursue the signing of the former Celta Vigo man.
Michu has netted 15 goals this term and has been a hugely influential player at his newly promoted side and he may well be the type of attack minded midfielder with an eye for goal that Sir Alex Ferguson has been looking to bring to Man United for the past year.
Ferguson has been linked with a myriad of players in this vein, including the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Luka Modric and a move for Michu would be a significantly cheaper option and moves for either the Inter Milan or Tottenham stars.
Sir Alex Ferguson has sent his brother Martin, a scout at Man United, to monitor Michu and will have been particular impressed with the performance the Oviedo born attacker put in on the weekend where he scored twice in Rayo Vallecano’s 6-0 drubbing of Osasuna.
The Man United manager is looking to add more creativity to a midfield that has it’s fair share of dynamic options in Michael Carrick, Anderson, Paul Scholes and Tom Cleverley, however none of that quartet is known for their goal-scoring and assist making exploits in recent seasons, hence the need to bring in a player who more ably links midfield and attack.
Ferguson may also see Michu as a possible back-up option in the striking department, especially as Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen are likely to leave in the summer.
