Etihad Stadium boss has a sweet tooth.
Roberto Mancini may have the blues just now – but a present from an eight-year-old City fanatic has helped keep him sweet.
Little Megan Kinghorn noticed the City boss munching a packet of Fruit Pastilles on the touchline at the Etihad Stadium.
To help cheer him up after a run of bad results, she sent him a packet of the sweets – and was over the blue moon when Mancini got in touch to say thank you. Mancini even revealed he had pinned up a letter Megan wrote to him on the club’s noticeboard.
Megan’s mum Kirsty, 39, said: “We had a running joke in the house that whenever City were on the telly Mancini and his assistant Brian Kidd always seemed to be eating sweets. “During one match we spotted what looked like a packet of Fruit Pastilles.
“Megan said she was going to buy some with her pocket money and sent them to him. “We went to Asda, got a four-pack and she wrote a letter and sent it to him. She thinks he’s wonderful.” Megan, of Rochdale Road, Royton, could barely think about anything else as she waited for a response to her present. Kirsty said: “Every night when she came home from school the first thing she would ask was if anything had come for her.”
But Megan did not have to wait long. A letter, complete with a signed photo of Mancini, landed on the doormat of the family’s home.
In it, the City boss thanked Megan for the sweets and revealed that he and Kidd had already eaten them. The Italian added: “I am glad we have great supporters like you.”

Everyone loves a ‘good news’ story, especially if they include children and fruit pastilles.
One can imagine that Mario Balotelli is purchasing boxes of the stuff in order to appease Mancini after seemingly losing the backing of the Man City boss.
If a representative of Rowntree happens to see this article and feel the need to send us a lifetime supply of these sweets we would happily accept such a delivery.
