Old Trafford boss keen on three La Liga talents.
Sir Alex Ferguson is never one to rest on his laurels and even though his Man United side look likely to collect yet another domestic title triumph the Scot is still planning on making moves for a number of selected talents he feels can add quality to his Old Trafford squad.
The Man United boss is scouting a trio of Spanish international youngsters that he feels will add strength in depth to their respective positions and has been told by his board that funds will be available to make significant bids for the players he earmarks moves for.
Chief among this trio is Athletic Bilbao starlet Iker Muniain who greatly impressed Ferguson when his side came face to face with the Basque club during their Europa League meetings. Sir Alex Ferguson had already had the teenager scouted and had received strong assessments of the Pamplona born attacker and the displays he put in over the course of the two legs against Man United have lifted the 19 year old to the top of his summer wish-list.
Ferguson would also like to add more steel to the centre of his midfield and in that regard would like to tempt Bilbao battler Javi Martinez from San Mames and the 23 year old Spanish international may well feel the time is right to leave the club he has been a regular in for the past six seasons.
The big rangy midfielder also impressed when Man United were knocked out by Athletic Bilbao and is apparently also high up on both Real Madrid & Barcelona’s transfer wish-lists.
The third of this Spanish national team trio that are of interest to Ferguson is Valencia left back Jordi Alba who the Man United boss may see as a long term replacement for Patrice Evra.
The attack minded 23 year old has been most effective at the Mestalla and is now a regular in Vicente del Bosque’s national team plans and is likely to be part of the Spanish squad for the upcoming Euro 2012 finals.
Sir Alex Ferguson will look to trim his squad this summer and will see some notable players come to the end of their contracts. The likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen are set to leave and therefore take with them their hefty pay packets off the balance sheet.
Squad players like Federico Macheda, Tomasz Kuszczak and Richie De Laet may also be offloaded this summer.
