Roberto Mancini will go into Monday’s title deciding game against bitter rivals Manchester United knowing that a win will see them leapfrog the champions. The Italian manager has this week been given the vote of confidence he needs by Etihad Stadium owner Sheikh Mansour, who has confirmed that the Italian’s job is safe.
Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour has delivered a huge vote of confidence to Blues boss Roberto Mancini. The club’s Abu Dhabi-based owner revealed that the Italian will keep his job – regardless of whether his charges end the club’s 44-year wait to be crowned champions of England.

Manchester City’s billionaire owners have come out stating that Robert Mancini’s job is safe, irrelevant of whether or not the club win the Premier League this season.
Last weekend’s results went in favour of City, and following Manchester United’s 4-4 draw to Everton, Mancini knows the title race is all but over.
City are now just three points behind United ahead of Monday’s derby, with the advantage of carrying a better goal difference over their Manchester rivals.
“The difference is three points and we do have a chance,” Sheikh Mansour said.
“But whatever happens and even if we don’t win I am very happy and satisfied with the players, the team and the management.
“They have performed very well and have improved in their last few matches.”
This will give Mancini and his team a vote of confidence ahead of Monday’s title decider against United. However, in today’s modern footballing climate, it wouldn’t be the first time a chairman fires his manager after guaranteeing his job.
When asked in an interview earlier on in the season about Mancini’s future position, Mansour gave a similar show of support by stating:
“We are satisfied with the progress that is being made – the success and development at this level of football but we must also continue to have patience,” he said.
“Sometimes I meet City supporters who criticise the work of the manager Roberto Mancini. In my opinion we are on the right path.”
City have have 82 of the 138 games where Mancini has been in charge, with a win percentage of 59%.
