The Cameroon midfielder has seen former team-mate Hatem Ben Arfa take the Premier League by storm and hopes his own performances will one day warrant a move to the Premier League.
Marseille have endured one of their worst seasons to date, despite reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The French side currently sit 10th in the Ligue 1 standings, with no hope of playing in the Champions League next season.
The 25-year-old is already thinking ahead, telling French TV:
“I can see myself playing at Chelsea or Manchester United in the near future, in the next five years to be honest.
“This season has been very poor. When I go home I can’t sleep because I feel very bad about our position. We’ve lost players such as Hatem Ben Arfa and Mamadou Niang.
“Look at what Ben Arfa is doing at Newcastle.”
The defensive midfielder’s style of play would make him a great asset for most Premier League clubs. And with Marseille’s current form, Mbia is likely to be looking for a move away sooner rather than later.
The Cameroon international has scored three times in 53 appearances for Marseilles, as well as gaining 36 caps for his country.
