The Arsenal forward is currently on a season-long loan deal at the Stadium of Light after finding first team opportunities at the Emirates hard to come by last season.
Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill is apparently undecided on the forward – who was signed by predecessor Steve Bruce – as he thinks of new ways to bolster his strike force for next season, following the unlikely return of Asamoah Gyan.
However, the 24-year-old told www.Sporten.tv2.dk: “Never say never about Sunderland, but it is not certain that I will be here if the opportunity arises.
“About Arsenal, I obviously have to have a chat with the club about it (his future), but it’s not there that the first priority is going to be. I think I have been fairly clear about it.”
Bendtner, however, revealed recently that he has enjoyed his time on Wearside despite picking up a facial injury that has seen him don a Zoro-esque mask for the remainder of the campaign.
He said: “It’s been great to come up here and get games.
“It’s different than what I was used to at Arsenal, but it’s been a good period for me.”
The Denmark international has scored seven goals in 23 appearances since his loan move to the Stadium of Light.
