Following an impressive first half to the season, Spurs looked certain to qualify for next year’s Champions League. There was even talk of potentially bringing both Manchester clubs to their feet by pipping them to the Premier League title.
One win in nine Premier League games later, and Redknapp’s side see themselves sitting in fifth position with just three games remaining, prompting talk of possible summer moves for Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.
Bale’s league form this season has seen him heavily linked with Spanish giants Barcelona, while Chelsea are expected to reignite their quest to sign Modric this summer, but Redknapp insists the pair are staying put.
When asked if he expected them to leave if Spurs did not qualify for the Champions League, Redknapp told Sky Sports News: ‘No.
‘When they came to the club Tottenham were nowhere near the Champions League.
‘They’re at a great club, there’s no reason why they would suddenly want to leave. There’s not too many clubs they could go to that are better than Tottenham.’
The Spurs boss did add however that decision would lie in the hands of chairman Daniel Levy, but reiterated that he expects the pair to stay.
He said: ‘I don’t make the decisions, the chairman runs things in terms of finances. But we’re not a selling club.’
