Manchester United fans will be unhappy to hear the news that rivals Manchester City are apparently readying a bid for Lille playmaker Edin Hazard.
The young Belgian international has been heavily linked with United in recent weeks, with manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirming last week that he had been to France to see the 21-year-old in action.
Hazard is one of this summer’s hottest properties and is likely to be in favour of a move to a top Premier League side in order to guarantee playing in the Champions League next season.
Spurs have also been linked with the player, however due to a severe dip in form of late, the White Hart Lane outfit now sit outside the top four and look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season.
City boss Roberto Mancini visited the French city last month when Lille played Valenciennes and was impressed with how the youngster performed and believes that his side would be the ‘perfect’ club for the playmaker to join.
“I like (Eden) Hazard a lot. He’s a good player, he’s young and he would do great things in our team,” he told France Football, as reported by Sky Sports.
“Given his technical qualities, City would be the perfect destination for him.
“I know him and have been following him for a long time. He’s a player a lot of teams want.”
However, City will know they will have their work cut out when trying so sign the youngster, with the Belgian international reportedly favouring a move to rivals United.
