Lille playmaker announces wish to move to England.
Eden Hazard has declared that he has decided to move to the Premier League next season after his latest starring performance for his French club, Lille.
The 21-year-old Belgian midfielder scored the equalising goal from the penalty spot as Lille beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 on Sunday to boost their hopes of Champions League qualification.
Patrick Vieira, Manchester City’s football development executive, and Martin Ferguson, the brother of Sir Alex Ferguson and a Manchester United scout, were both at the stadium.
“I want to play in England [next season]. That’s what I’ve decided,” Hazard told French television after the win.
Two goals in eight second-half minutes saw third-placed Lille deal a heavy blow to 10-man Paris St-Germain’s Ligue 1 title hopes.
Eden Hazard has had another stand out season this term and even though his efforts haven’t helped Lille to retain their Ligue 1 title that hasn’t lessened interest in the Belgian’s services. The 21 year old has notched up 18 goals and 14 assists this term and it’s been known for some time that the playmaker would push to leave the Stade Metropole and as we move nearer and nearer to the re-opening of the transfer window you can expect a great deal of speculation on this front.
Man City and Man United appear to be leading the race for Hazard’s signature but Arsenal, who’s interest probably pre-dates all other Premier League outfits, may also feel they have a chance to lure the Lille man to the English top tier.
